NA body expresses concern over presence of BlackWater
ISLAMABAD : Secretary Interior Qamar Zaman again negated on Monday the presence of BlackWater, DynCorp or any other foreign security agency in the country.
"Neither the BlackWater and DynCorp nor any other such security agency is operating in the country, "he told the National Assembly Standing Committee on Interior. However, the Committee presided over by Abdul Qadir Patel expressed great concern over the statement of US Secretary of Defence Robert Gates regarding presence of BlackWater and DynCorp in Pakistan and Pakistan government's contradiction in this regard.
The Chairman of the Committee Abdul Qadir Patel questioned the Interior Secretary that if there wasn't BlackWater, then how the US Defence Secretary said that BlackWater and DynCorp were in Pakistan. The members of the Committee were also concerned about two different statements of Robert Gates and Interior Secretary regarding functioning of BlackWater in country.
MNA Bushra Rehman said that the personnel of BlackWater were freely moving in the country without any restrictions. Abdul Qadir Patel asked the Interior Secretary to probe the unrestricted movement of foreigners in the country and informed the committee at the earliest. The Committee meeting was attended by MNAs, Ejaz Virk, Sahabzada Murtaza Amin and Bushra Gohar, while secretary interior and other high officials of the ministry were also present in the meeting.
